A brief History

Branch History

Macedon Ranges Ulysses Group commenced life when Richard Prisgrove obtained a list of Ulyssians who resided in and around Sunbury, with the intention of forming a splinter group from the Melbourne Ulysses Branch, which would gather for local rides. Richard made contact with Brian Dixon, David Thomas, Terry Duggan and Ray Lane. They decided there would be between 20-40 riders in the area to form a group. The first newsletter was sent out on the 28th February 1999 inviting approximately 25 people to the first ride on the 14th March 1999. Splinters, as it was then known, continued to grow until the 22nd September 1999 when Richard advised Natcom that Splinters would become a formal group within the Ulysses network. The first official meeting of the Macedon Ranges Ulysses Group was on the 26th October 1999. The first committee from that date was: Ian Diss - Ride Coordinator/Treasurer, Brian Dixon - Publicity/Assistant Organizer,  and Richard Prisgrove - Organizer. At a special meeting on the 21st November 2000, attended by 35-40 members, the first structured committee was elected.
